Letter from the President
I would like to extend a personal "Thank you!" to everyone who participated in last
years season and embraced the many improvements to the program.  Going through
change can prove to be difficult, and sometimes frustrating, but when you embrace it,
and implement the change effectively, the end result is something to be proud of!

I would also like to thank last years President, Mike Anderson, and the entire Board of
Directors for their dedication and service to this great youth program. Last season
was fantastic, the concessions, golf outing and Supermarket Sweepstakes raffle, the
Lynch/Chevy raffle and Chocolate Fest  were all a great success. They were effective
enough to cover the operating expenses, allowing us to cut the registration fees to
$25 per player and provided the program we envisioned in the prep-season.

This meant cutting expenses wherever possible, and changing the way we do
business to ensure we would survive the financial struggles with the economy today.
We got creative with the fund raising, and with the help of our sponsors and the
Burlington community, we paved the way for a season that the players could enjoy,
grow, and look back with enthusiasm on a summer filled with fun!

As the President and Information Officer I plan to concentrate on creating effective
lines of communications between all aspects of the program. To accomplish this, I
am counting on everyone to be proactive in helping me create an environment that
allows for open communication.

The best way to find updated information is via the website - www.bllbaseball.com
If you do not have regular web access, be sure to notify your coach or team parent so
they can ensure you receive the communications in print.  With stamps at
.43 cents each, it just isn't a cost effective way to communicate.  Phone messages
are lost or forgotten and unless you get lucky enough to catch someone at home, it
proves to be unreliable as well.  Please check the website often. Even in the off
season, as it is updated regularly.

It is also my goal to create an environment that encourages parent participation.  Get
involved! We need parent volunteers to help with concessions, operating the
scoreboards, and keeping up with the field and grounds.  We need Team Parents to
help the coach with communications such as setting up a team volunteer schedule,
helping with picture day, uniforms, team snacks, updating the team web page,  the
list is endless and there is something for everyone!

I would like to encourage the parents to stick around at the practices, ask the coach
how you can help.  The Burlington community has a lot to offer, and everyone is busy,
if we all do our  part, the ones receiving the biggest payoff for your participation is your
children.

Get to know
the Board of Directors, they are volunteers and their hard work has a
direct impact on the success of the baseball program. They lend their time and talent
for the good of the community.  When you see them working hard to get the fields
playable for the children, spending countless hours organizing the program behind
the scenes, thank them, and ask how you can help!

Please help support the fund raisers any way you can.  The concessions provides
team discounts that proves to be competitive while raising the money to support the
programs needs.

I am looking forward to the 2009 season, and all the exciting things it has to offer, but
more importantly, what it will offer the Burlington youth.
